Chapter 32 Summary: “Diana”

Diana and Shane attend Gigi and Ryder’s formal wedding, where Diana serves as a bridesmaid. During the reception, Gigi’s mom, Hannah Graham, performs a song.

While enjoying the evening, Shane confides in Diana that he wants a big wedding someday. He also shares his desire to marry and have children young, which surprises Diana, given his goal of playing professional hockey. When she questions if hockey would interfere with family life, Shane insists it wouldn’t, explaining that many pro players’ wives encourage them to prioritize their careers, even during major family events. Diana notes that his wife would need to be okay with making such sacrifices, prompting Shane to ask if she could handle that. Diana honestly admits she doesn’t know, though she plans to have kids in her early thirties, which is far off.

Later, when Gigi’s twin brother, Wyatt, flirts with Diana, Shane asks her if anything ever happened between them. Diana says no, which Shane is happy to hear. His confident jealousy, unlike Percy’s controlling and insecure jealousy, is an attractive trait to Diana.

Chapter 33 Summary: “Shane”

Shane accompanies Diana to a family barbecue, where he meets her father, Tom, her stepmother, Larissa, and her younger brother, Thomas. During the gathering, Tom shares a childhood story about Diana standing up to a boy twice her size on the playground after he tried to force her to eat ants.
